Antifreeze smell Hello I have not been the first to ask this question but could it be the antifreeze smell coming from a leak in the intake manifold/gasket. I couldnt find any leaks anywhere else, not the floorboard, around the radiator, pipes. 2011 buick lacrosse 3.6 After driving vehicle long enough to warm up and return home there is a strong smell of antifreeze from the engine compartment. No smell in the cabin of the car at all. I do not see any visible leaks anywhere. Have replaced thermostat, radiator cap. Inspected overflow tank. Checked oil for... Not sure if antifreeze has a specific smell or odor unless boiled or burned off type fumes? Know such as raw gas is a sure thing on smell, tranny fluid a burnt smell can be detected with trouble. I bought my 2007 Buick LaCrosse in Oct. 2013. When I test-drove it, it seemed in almost perfect condition in every way (metallic bronze, perfect unholstery, quiet as a ghost), except that I could detect a faint odor of antifreeze in the cabin, and the odor was even stronger under the hood. There... I noticed my lower radiator hose was leaking profusely. There was a puddle of GREEN👎 coolant below the lower hose . So I tightened the hose clamp . Then I went to check the overflow resevior to discover that it has Dexicool RED antifreeze in it 🤷 what the actual *bleep* ???

If you are just trying to figure out how much antifreeze to use, you car holds 12.7 quarts, so you will need 2 gallon bottles of antifreeze if you mix it yourself, or 3 gallons if you use the 50/50 mix.
