Because there is no double-digit number on a keyboard or calculator, 10 must be created by pressing the numbers 1 and 0. Ten is the base of the decimal numeral system, the most common system of denoting numbers in both spoken and written language. The number "ten" originates from the Proto-Germanic root "*tehun", which in turn comes from the Proto-Indo-European root "*dekm-", meaning "ten". Ten is a composite number, its proper divisors being 1, 2 and 5. Ten is the smallest noncototient, a number that can not be expressed as the difference between any integer and the total number of coprimes below it.
