The toolkit supports advanced techniques for creating data-exploration interfaces, such as linked visualization, perceptual color scales, dynamic map projections, animated transitions, parallel coordinates, and tree layouts. I’ll show how these techniques were applied to build data-exploration and visual-analysis tools on the EcoEngine API. Along the way, we’ll go back to Mike’s examples to gain insights into how basic building blocks can be combined into custom visualization interfaces. In the second half of the lecture, I’ll livecode a new visualization from scratch using EcoEngine data. Useful links: http://d3js.org/ http://bl.ocks.org/mbostock
