YouTube Excerpt: It happened around 10 A.M. on Monday as tragedy hits outside the airport in Montrose. A single aircraft took off from the Montrose Regional Airport when it swung right, according to the Montrose County Sheriff's Office. David Farley, communications services with the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office, states, “I don't know what happened, but it lost some altitude and hit an embankment, flipped over, caught fire.” According to the Montrose County Office, the crash resulted in two confirmed deaths from the plane crash. Farley says while the crash was very close to the house, there were no injuries to any of the residents. But coroners arrived on the scene an hour later. “That airplane caught on fire when it cartwheeled down off the ground after hitting the dirt. And it was burning some of the siding off the other mobile home itself. And so it was intense fire,” Farley said. Farley says while the scene is still fresh, the Montrose County Sheriff's Department is still awaiting information from the coroner's office for more details. According to flight logs on FlightAware, the plane flew Saturday morning from Delta to Montrose. And the plane is a fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft manufactured in 2008 and registered to Angry Moose LLC of Fort Myers, Florida. Then, according to the FAA, the aircraft's registration was pending and “may not be suitable for operation." While Montrose sheriff’s were there on scene, deputies are not investigating the crash, as it's now in the jurisdiction of the FAA and NTSB. Farley explains, “We're here to help with the scene, actually protect the scene until the FAA and NTSB get on scene to do the investigation. There's been an aircraft. It's a special investigation. And so it's that's who we're waiting for.”
