Tutorial 6: Preparing Your Document for Import to OmegaT or Any CAT Platform

YouTube Excerpt: OmegaT and other similar CAT platforms support all of the typical document file types used by word processors such as MS Word, Pages, LibreOffice, and so forth; however, you may want to make some adjustments to your document before uploading. For example, folio references (e.g. “F.111.b”) are useful to have in your document, but they will make your TMs less useful when they appear in the middle of a segment. This tutorial will show you how to move folio references to the beginning of each segment so they can still be referenced but won’t interfere with your TMs. This is done automatically by using regular expressions with a free text editor such as Notepad++. I will also show you how to set up a text for CAT translation beginning with the raw text file downloaded from the eKangyur github.
