The Telephone color code is used to sequence the hundreds (and thousands of wires) that are often contained inside one large cable. This video demonstrates the basics with a 25-pair cable. The 25-pair cable contains the essential first 25 colors that repeatable for 50,100,300,500 pair cables. Once you understand the color code for the first 25 pairs, the sequence just repeats. Even though this color code is very old, it still appears in modern Telephone cabling, Cat5 and Cat6 wiring (just the first 4 pairs).
