Have you tried nesting IF formulas when dealing with multiple conditions? It’s very challenging to create, read, and maintain, right? But what if I told you that Excel has two logical functions that can deal with this scenario better? Yes, you heard me right! There are two options and it’s the SWITCH and IFS function. Today, we are going to discuss which among the two is the better alternative for a nested IF equation. When and where can the lesson be used? Let’s start with their syntaxes. The IFS function has two arguments - the logical test and the value if true. The SWITCH function has expression, value, result, and default result. As you can see, the IFS requires a logical test that involves logical operators such as the “greater than” or “lesser than” expressions. This feature makes the IFS function ideal in evaluating multiple conditions.
