Drew Godfrey, of Hervey Bay Snake Catchers, was removing two snakes from a hidden compartment under a shed ceiling when he was attacked and left bloodied by the reptile. However, Godfrey said the incident was his fault and the harmless python was not to blame. “I’m the the idiot who picked up a snake! I’m the antagonist in this situation. It was merely defending itself against what it believed to be a threat,” he wrote on Facebook. “After seven years of being a professional snake catcher I’ve finally been tagged right on the schnoz! “They were comfortably asleep and minding their own business, posing absolutely no threat to anyone. If you had some giant ugly geezer dragging you out of bed you’d be frightened too.” He said he had wanted to remove the snakes one at a time but one made a bolt to get away and he had to grab both together.
