And if this topic of writing good, clean code seems like boring to you and something that’s not the sexiest thing to focus on I really understand that, I do. But writing good, clean code rather than filthy dirty, disgusting code, is just something you need to learn to do if you don’t want to be laugned at by your team and scorned at by your managers. Or shouted at by commenters if you post your coding projects on Youtube. So here are 5 very easy steps you can start taking now to help you write like 80% better code which will literally put you above 95% of beginners who never bother to learn any of this stuff. First, we need to understand what good code even means. Code is clean if it can be understood easily – by everyone, not just yourself. The key thing you need to understand is that the goal of code, especially in the context of larger companies where it’s not just you working on your dumb Python script, is that it not only does the job but is also easy to understand and modify by others. This is all something that I’ve now learned myself while currently researching this and focusing on implementing this over the past few weeks.
