These code can often be confusing, but I reveal what they are and what they mean so you can understand them and use them confidently. Ceramic capacitors are the most common form of in use in electronic circuits today, but their dielectrics and designations are not widely understood. Designations such as C0G, X7R, Y5V and many others are often seen, but their means are not widely understood. In this video we explain all the information that is needed to be able to decode the performance expected. We provide the information about the two main classes of dielectric used these days, explaining the rationale behind the coding and giving examples. We reveal the types of circuit application for C0G or NP0, Y5V, X7R and the like. In the video, we also provide information about some of the typical uses for the various types of capacitor so that it is possible to understand which type to use in a given position in a circuit design. Where might a C0G capacitor be used, or where an X7R one of a Y5V ceramic capacitor might be ideal.
