Starting at 10,000 feet elevation (3048 m), climbing to over 13,200 feet (4023 m) elevation, and with a net gain and loss of about 6700 and 8400 feet respective, this point to point trail race is not for the faint of heart. 50k runners also experience an average elevation over 11,000 feet (3352 m) and though this race isn't easy, it is also one of the most beautiful mountain trail runs in the West. Runners traverse over sections of the Continental Divide Trail (STUNNING!!!), navigate off-trail sections, and run above tree line for a majority of the race. This was my second year racing the Devil on the Divide 50k. This year, I finished with a time of 6 hours, 28 minutes.
