Arts & Crafts Music, Book I: Sarrusophone Sextet (progress video)

Unfortunately, the Sarrusophones aren’t available on Flat, so I’m just using Saxophones on there as a template of sorts, since the timbre is pretty similar. Also, the two bottom “baritones” are actually meant to be a bass and a contrabass (in C). Arts & Crafts Music is one of the 43 new schools of post-modern classical music that I’ve been creating in a manifesto that I’ve created. Arts & Crafts Music is based off of the Arts & Crafts design movement that flourished in the states and Europe from roughly 1880 to 1920. The movement was largely a reaction and in opposition to the Art Nouveau art movement, and it was defined by its use of traditional craftsmanship, with a mixture of complex and simple patterns, non industrial materials, and advocated economic and social reform, as well as socialism. This new musical form of the Arts & Crafts movement tries to conjure up its painted counterpart by utilizing a mixture of simple and complex patterns (usually a few pages of relatively simple composition, follow by a few pages of more complex composition, and this is repeated throughout the piece) along with elegant usage of a wide timbral variety. Most pieces in this discipline tend to be atonal to allow for wider timbral expression and are often through-composed. Dedicated to my family, my friends, Jesus Christ & The Most High God.
