Family Travel to Black Hawk, Colorado with Kids in the Winter - Things to Do

YouTube Excerpt: We took a trip to Colorado, where we went on hikes, walked on a frozen pond, and did a little skiing. The drive from Los Angeles would take close to 20 hours, so we had to spread it out over 2 days. Along the way, we stopped at parks so our kids could have little breaks. After a full day of driving, we turned in for the night in Utah. The next day, we were off to finish our trip. We finally arrived in Black Hawk, where we stayed at a cabin we rented on AirBnB. In the morning, we took a walk on Horseshoe Trail in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Then we stopped by a Kriley Pond nearby, which was frozen over in the winter and thick enough to walk on. We went back to our warm cabin and spent Christmas Eve making gingerbread houses. There was heavy snow at night, and we were greeted with a layer of fresh snow in the morning, as we opened Christmas presents. Of course, all that snow had to be shoveled. As mom decided to take a morning jog in the snow, we stayed back to play around the house. We also made a trip out to Loveland Ski Area to ski and snowboard. Later on, we drove out to Panorama Point, a boardwalk pavilion with great scenic views of the mountains. Colorado was a fun and relaxing time to connect with family over the holidays, and though cold, is absolutely beautiful in the winter.
