[13] He attended Davidson College in North Carolina and later earned a Master of Divinity from Gordon–Conwell Theological Seminary, graduating in 1979. [11][4] He began working with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship and various churches around the country upon his graduation from seminary in 1979. He is happily married to his best friend, Sharon, and they have three children. Cliffe is the senior pastor of Grace Community Church, New Canaan, Connecticut.
